Uploading

what is it?

All webpages on the Internet have some method they use to upload, or put, their files onto their web server. There are several different ways of uploading your page, some servers use a direct FTP method, while others use a in-line browser method.

how??

If you want your page on the Internet, you *have* to upload it. Since most serious websites use a direct FTP server to accomplish this, I will tell you from that stand point. When you go to upload your files, I suggest using a program such as CuteFTP. It is relatively simple to learn, after you log into your server, you see a split screen. On the right are the files on your server, and on the left are the files stored locally, or on your hard drive. Simply select a file, and push the button to send it over and voila!

oh, good! what now?

When people upload their pages, they just seem to leave it be and forget about it. I can't stress this enough, do not do this! Always check your uploaded pages to make everything works. If you are able to, you should view your page in both Internet Explorer and Netscape after you are finished uploading. Also, make sure your page comes up at a relatively good speed, local files come up much faster than files on the web do.

that's all?

Yep, that's it! Simple isn't it? Just keep in mind that no matter how good you are at designing pages, you should *always* check your page after uploading! If you do this then you should have a error-free page.
