Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph

by · August 9, 2013

The Royal Oak Offshore Series form Audemers Piguet has been having a lot of success, and there are many people who aren’t necessarily watch connoisseurs that know about this collection. Apparently it was so famous and so magazines wrote about it, that it became a very mainstream topic. This collection is a remade version of the Offshore collection that was created in 1992, a collection that featured big and a bit rough looking watches. The Royal Offshore takes that collection and makes sure that the original watches are taken and recreated in a more wearable manner with smaller shapes and more delicate lines.

This watch from the collection has a lovely octagonal design and comes in a 44mm case and comes in three colors, the forged carbon, stainless steel or pink gold/white gold. Here we have a self-winding chronograph in 18 carat white gold case with a beautiful 18 carat white gold bracelet and rounded cut diamonds on the bezel. The watch also features a beautiful dial with a lovely ceramic bezel that has the well-known pattern we are accustomed to. The watch is definitely beautiful to look at with the Mega Tapisserie signature dial and because of the lovely way everything is displayed; also the nice looking chronograph with the hour and minute totalizer are a great addition to this classic watch.

The watch has a satin brushed and polished finish that makes the it look absolutely beautiful. It’s also a big improvement from the 1992 collection. A critique this watch received was the fact that it is quite prone to scratches due to the fact that it doesn’t have a rubber or a carbon bezel, however, with the ceramic bezel people will have a better change at keeping the watch from any harm, but obviously that costs more.

The watch is definitely a must have for those who want to look elegant or those who wish for a high end watch but are looking for something more particular or something that will easily stand out. However, you will see that the watch is definitely expensive, with the stainless steel version costing more than $20000 and the gold version also over $50000.
